NEED FOR WELFARE WORK



The need for welfare arises from a very nature of industrial system, which is characterized by two basic facts, one the conditions under which work is carried on are not congenial for health and second, when labour join industry he has to work in an entire strange atmosphere, creating problems of adjustment. The need for labour welfare is strongly felt by the Royal Commission on labour as for back in 1931, Primarily because of a lack of commitment to industrial work among factory workers and the harsh treatment they received for the employers considering this need, the constitution laid down various articles in this regards.

Workers Health services

These should include:-

  1. Factory health centre center, playgrounds, health education, medical examination of workers and health research.
  2. Women and child welfare work, maternity aid, infant welfare, crèches, women’s general education, health and family welfare.
  3. Factory dispensary and clinic for general treatment of individual disease, fatigue and treatment of accidents.
  4. Workers recreation facilities: play ground, outdoor life, athletics gymnasium and women’s recreation.
  5. education: provision of reading rooms, libraries, visual education lecture programs, education of workers children nursery schools, primary schools, women’s general education, child care etc.
  6. culture activities: musical evenings and circles folksongs, the arts and stories presentation, folk dancing and festival celebration
