Researchers from the university of California, found that our brain process during the dream time help to reduce memories of our painful memories. during our dreamy nights our bad memories are recovered by our brain, and it takes to suppressed. our brain is just like a computer system, this system recover all memories and check in a anti-pain application and solve this problems.
For
this study researchers recruited 35 healthy young adults and divided
them into groups, each of them was showed emotional images. a part of
group viewed images in evening and a group in the morning. those who
slept after the image viewing they have significant decrease in
feelings with comparing to others

author Professor Matthew Walker, said: " The dream stage of
sleep, based on its unique neuron chemical composition,
provides us with a form of overnight therapy, a soothing balm that
removes the sharp edges from the prior days emotional experiences."
The findings, published in the journal Current Biology, could explain
why people with post- traumatic stress disorder ( PTSD), such as war
veterans, suffer reoccurring nightmares, the researchers
said.Especially in the case of young adults, lack of proper rest
leads to many health problems. it affect their mental and
physical health.
They
said the therapy element of sleep may malfunction in PTSD
sufferers.Therefore, when a flashback is triggered by they relive the
whole experience because the emotion has not been properly stripped
away from the memory during sleep.
