As per the new
agreement between Microsoft and Dropbox, mobile users can edit files stored on
Dropbox through one of Microsoft's apps. Microsoft altered the rules so that
you can create and perform basic editing tasks in the mobile apps for free.
How to edit your Microsoft Office files through Dropbox |
The following
steps will tell you, how to edit your MS office files and documents through
Dropbox:
1. First, make
sure you're running the latest version of Dropbox on your mobile device as well
as the mobile versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other tools for iOS or
Microsoft Office Mobile for Android.
2. Launch
Dropbox on your mobile device and then open any Microsoft file.
3. The first
time you open an Office file, Dropbox guides you to a Edit icon that allows you
to open the file in its native Office application. Click the same icon.
4. Dropbox asks
if you want to open the file with its native app. Click the title of the Office
app.
5. You're then
asked to grant permission for the corresponding app to access your folders
and files in Dropbox. Tap the Allow link.
Then the file opens in its native Office app.
6. You can now
view and edit the file. After you've completed altering the file, click the
Back button to exit the app and return to Dropbox. The version on Dropbox
should now include the changes you made.
Alternatively,
you can open your Dropbox files from the mobile version of any of the Office
apps. Following steps will shows how it works:
1. Open Word,
Excel or PowerPoint on your mobile device. You can see a new location under
Places for Dropbox.
2. Tap the link
for Dropbox to view your Dropbox folders and files.
3. Tap the
Office file you wish to view or edit. Then the file will opens in current
Office app.
4. Edit the file
as needed. Click the Back button, and the revised document is robotically saved
back to Dropbox.
